Hey Reader, This is why I know my process works: "I must say the mental relief you gave me with the 'just do 5 minutes if that's all you can manage' ...was a brilliant incentive. I tried to do something and more. I still found excuses to avoid working out, but at least I have done some moves every week since." This message from a coaching client is exactly why I do what I do!! I get super excited when a client tells me they're moving more and feeling better - honestly, it's why I do what I do. My client had been struggling with the "all-or-nothing exercise cycle" - you know when you're either fully into it, showing up every day or you're just not into it at all, and then you're back to doing nothing 'cause life got busy or crazy or whatever... So many of us are stuck in perfectionism, when "good enough" is what we need when it comes to moving our bodies consistently. I mean I'm not saying we don't "push" ourselves at times, but "good enough" is often good enough, especially when you have a million other things on the to do list (and you're tired and post menopausal). Especially when you're just starting to work on moving your body more regularly, the idea is to create a new healthy habit, consistency, not intensity is what matters. So if you've ever told yourself you'll work out when you have a full 30-60 minutes, or you've skipped doing some yoga/your workout/your walk/whatever movement you had planned entirely because 10 minutes didn't seem "worth it," or if you've felt guilty about short workouts thinking they don't really count... This is for you! I totally get it, despite wanting to move your body regularly, the pressure to do it "right" keeps getting in the way of just doing it... am I right? So here's my permission to be "imperfect" (not that you need it but in case it helps ๐). Today's 5-minute permission slip: You don't need a perfect workout. You just need to move your body for 5 minutes. Do yoga. Dance. Stretch, walk, do gentle movements - anything counts. Give yourself the same mental relief that my client found, and try the "just 5 minutes" approach today. Set a timer, do any gentle movement, and notice how different it feels when you remove the pressure to be perfect. Remember something is always better than nothing. And if you want personalized guidance and support creating a consistent movement/exercise routine so you can feel great in your body again, join my VIP "LET'S GET MOVING" COACHING WAITLIST to get first access to my upcoming 30 day one on one Coaching Program (spots limited).
