Recovering? Yoga can help - a lot!

I got an email this week from a yoga colleague who recently had abdominal surgery.

While it's not always an easy road to recovery from any surgery, she shared how much of a difference having a regular yoga practice has made to her recovery.

Her email got me thinking about the power of yoga to help in the healing and recovery process, which many of us may find ourselves in at some point (if we haven't been there already).

Here's part of what she shared:

"I’m endlessly grateful for my Years of Yoga and Meditation practice which has made a massive difference in my recovery no doubt

🧘🏻‍♀️ Being able to squat deeply

🧘🏻‍♀️ Being able to hinge at my hips instead of bend at my waist

🧘🏻‍♀️ Being able to pick things up with my toes

🧘🏻‍♀️ Being able to cross one ankle over my thigh (seated pigeon) to put in my toe separators and on my socks and shoes

🧘🏻‍♀️ Not to mention the mental aspect that meditation practice has given me

It has helped me return to the present and not get caught up in the what-ifs and future-tripping

My Gratitude practice has also helped immensely crossing my hands over my heart and mentally going over my gratitude list helps pull me out of anxiety brain."
